We aim to create opportunities for program participants to achieve self-sufficiency and economic independence. We provide housing assistance to more than 54,000 people through Residential Communities and the Housing Choice Voucher program. It is the 10th largest Public Housing Agency and manages the fourth largest Housing Choice Voucher program in the nation.

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs provides a statewide listing of low-income housing tax-credit properties. This list includes multi-family properties that have allocated affordable housing units for low to moderate income families you can also apply for.

Our West Dallas Home

In 1993, DHA built its headquarters in the heart of West Dallas, which was once the highest concentration of low-rise public housing in the country. During the mid-’90s DHA worked to remove the lead pollution in the neighborhood and redeveloped the land with new mixed-income single-family homes, townhomes, and apartments.

At DHA we believe in helping the families we serve achieve self-sufficiency, and education is critical to this goal. We are proud to have provided educational scholarships to our residents for more than 20 years, investing more than $1.5 million of non-federal funds raised by our team. This scholarship program has helped more than 1,200 students attending college across the country pursue their education.
