Rhen C. Bass
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Bass is the chief financial officer for DHA, a role he assumed in March of 2019. He is responsible for the supervision of DHA’s finance and procurement departments. Mr. Bass joined the DHA team with more than 40 years of diverse and progressive finance, accounting, auditing and business leadership experience.
Prior to joining the DHA leadership team, Mr. Bass held the title of CFO at the San Buenaventura Housing Authority and deputy finance director at the District of Columbia Housing Authority, providing him with extensive experience maintaining and enhancing an organization’s financial health. Mr. Bass started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Michigan, and his robust accounting and auditing experience have landed him valuable financial leadership opportunities throughout the United States.
His current responsibilities include asset management, financial and regulatory reporting, agency-wide budget planning, and managing the rigorous auditing process the agency is require to adhere to each year. Ensuring the financial foundation for the agency’s business operations, Mr. Bass’s position enables him to support service-enriched affordable housing and self-sufficiency for DHA clients.
In addition to his housing and finance experience, Mr. Bass has an outstanding record of service. Advising collegiate fraternity members, volunteering at his church, and serving on the board of various youth and education focused nonprofits are just a few of the ways Mr. Bass seeks to give back to the community. Moreover, he is passionate about mentoring and advising youth. He works to build rapport and connect with those around him in compassionate ways to help provide them with guidance, resources and opportunities.
Mr. Bass is a Certified Public Accountant and has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in accounting from Eastern Michigan University. Mr. Bass enjoys listening to jazz music, bicycle riding, and spending time with his wife, Patricia, and their three children.
