Laurin Compton

Staff Attorney

Laurin is the staff attorney of DHA, a role she assumed in 2021. Her primary responsibilities include assisting the general counsel with department matters, leading tenant relations across DHA properties and assisting with contract review. Laurin believes that DHA’s work and mission is needed, valued and life-changing. She is committed to helping DHA continue to move North Texas forward. 

Laurin possesses a wealth of knowledge across various sectors of law. She graduated from Howard University in 2013 with a concentration in English and Journalism. Laurin earned her law degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law through Texas Southern University in 2016. During that time, she acted as vice president of a civil law organization through the school and completed an internship at a labor and employment law firm. Following graduation, she immediately secured a position as associate attorney at a criminal defense firm where she served from 2016 to 2021.

From 2019 to 2021, Laurin acted as outside counsel for DHA. Once the full-time position of staff attorney became available with DHA, Laurin knew she could bring a new, valuable perspective to the position accompanied with her existing knowledge of the organization.
