DHA will Accept Applications from Qualified Seniors to Reside at The Oaks

DHA will accept applications for public housing and project-based vouchers to reside at The Oaks located at 630 S. Llewellyn Ave, Dallas, TX 75208

DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas, announces the future opening of The Oaks, a new affordable rental housing development for qualified seniors, i.e., lower income persons age 62 and older.  The Oaks is a new 260-unit, multi-family apartment community located at 630 S. Llewellyn Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75208.

The Oaks will contain 27 units assisted by the DHA Public Housing program and 103 units assisted by the DHA Project-Based Housing Voucher program. Persons interested in residing at The Oaks may apply for rental housing assistance through DHA’s Public Housing program and/or DHA’s Project-Based Housing Voucher program.

DHA will begin accepting applications to reside at The Oaks on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 10:00 am CST.

To qualify for admission, the head of household or spouse must be 62 years of age or older and meet the federal income qualifications i.e.; Public Housing applicants must have a gross annual household income no greater than 30% of the area median income, which is $20,450 for a one-person household or $23,400 for a two-person household. Project-Based Voucher applicants must have a gross annual household income no greater than 50% of the area median income, which is $31,100 for a one-person household or $39,000 for a two-person household.

Selection

To ensure the application process is accessible, equitable and available to all, from the applications received, applications will be randomly selected. Therefore, applying first or early has no advantage. Time and date of application will not be used to establish an applicant’s position on the waiting list.  Applications that have not been selected from the waiting list following 18 months will expire and the applicant may re-apply.

  • DHA will only accept applications submitted digitally via the website link below.
  • Applicants must have an active email address to apply. DHA does not endorse any Internet provider. Free email accounts are available through websites such as Google: http://mail.google.com/mail/signup .

Applicants that do not have access to a computer may use computers located at a branch of the Dallas Public Library or a computer kiosk located in the DHA Headquarters located at 3939 N. Hampton Rd., Dallas, TX 75212, where additional assistance will be provided, upon request.

From Rent Café take the following next steps:

  1. Register for Rent Café.
  2. When registering, you will be required to set-up a user name and password.
  3. After registration is completed, answer all questions on the application, and submit the application electronically.
  4. Select the program you choose to apply to and select The Oaks as a property you would like to reside in.
  5. Print the receipt of your submitted application and keep a copy in a safe place for future reference. Your receipt will be needed to check the status of your application, make changes, and to receive information and notices from the DHA.

Following the submittal of your application, you may access information on the DHA’s on-line applicant portal to:

  • check the status of your waiting list application
  • make changes to your application
  • receive important information, notices and invitations by email from the DHA

NOTE: If you have previously registered with Rent Café, you will be able to use the same username and password.
